公園内を散策していたら、突然海洋科学館の建物が現れました。入り口が分かりにくかったですが、階段で2階に上がるとありました。入場料は大人200円、子供100円と、とても良心的なお値段です。また、塩作り体験のチケットが必要か聞かれました。丁寧な口調で聞かれたので、ぜひやってみたいと思い購入しました。中は多く上がっている写真の通りで、赤穂近辺の生態や地形の成り立ち、文化など幅広いジャンルの展示がありました。塩づくり体験では、塩の歴史や種類、ここで作る塩の特徴など、多くのことを教えてもらえるので、知的体験ができて大人から子供まで楽しめる施設です。

赤穂海浜公園の中にある赤穂市立海洋科学館で、塩づくり体験をしました。とても広い園内を歩き回ることになるので、フィールドカードなどを持ち込むのが良さそうです。入り口から歩くこと数分で海洋科学館まで行けます。駐車場は西側からのアクセスが便利です。肝心の塩づくり体験は、小学校高学年レベルだと割と楽しく、かんすいの作り方や昔ながらの塩田による製塩製法が学べるので、良い体験ができました。何度も行く場所ではないかもしれませんが、公園に遊びに行くついでに立ち寄ることはありそうですね。
