隠れキリシタン関連の資料が見れます。キリシタン関連の資料は限られた地域でしか見れないので。天草では何か所かあるがここでは島原一揆・天草四郎関連のほか戦国時代からの地域での布教の歴史などが学べます。天草一揆の際に使用した旗が展示される場合あり(複製飾られることもあり)。資料はいいが看板や駐車場が案内不足に感じました。南側から一方通行の山道登ります。

天草一揆に至るまでの経緯が天草側、幕府側双方より時系列で分かりやすく展示されています。展示品数は多くはありませんが、じっくり見ると割と見ごたえがあります。なぜあのような残虐な一揆が起きてしまったのかはいまだはっきりしていないようです。日本に残る記録からの視点で展示が作成されているので、事実のみを展示するのではなく、キリスト教西洋からの視点からの分析も交えて展示するとよりグローバルな視点でこの一揆をとらえられるのでは。天草世界遺産認定しましたし、今後の展示の拡充に期待します。聖旗は年4回、1週間ずつの公開となりますのでご注意ください。通常期間はレプリカが展示してあります。本物と言われてもわからな...
