Worth the short walk from Ishibutai Kofun. Better to walk than drive. There is no parking as it's just farms, but if you drive you are almost certain to pass the road that leads to it. About 550m from the entrance to Ishibutai. Small but no other people even in the busy season.

2023.5.3に来訪しました。 明日香村坂田にある一辺40ｍほどの方墳。階段ピラミッド形状の特殊な形をしているらしいです。 石舞台古墳から南南東400ｍほどの距離にある古墳ですが、奥飛香に近い祝戸地区に立地している為、観光客も少なくゆっくり見学できる古墳です。 横穴式石室が開口しており、玄室内は鉄扉で施錠されているので入室は出来ませんでしたが、鉄扉からスマホを差し入れると撮影は可能で、玄室や家型石棺が撮影可能でした。 平地にある古墳でしたが、迫力ある羨道、横穴式石室、家型石棺が見学できる魅力満載の古墳でした。 祝戸地区、塚本古墳とセットで見学されることをお勧めいたします 周辺には駐車場はありません。 最寄交通機関は、かめバス石舞台停留所です。

石舞台古墳から東へ徒歩で15分道なりに往くと二又の道になる。その場所から時計で言えば2時方向に古墳があるのだが、春の今の薄緑一色の時期なら眼を凝らして見なければ見つけられない程田畑にとけこんでいる。よく見るとこんもりと盛り上がった半円状の上に躑躅の木が数本みえるのが都塚古墳、別名金鳥塚古墳である。小道を辿っで近づくと南側に小さな鉄格子をある入り口があった。中を覗くて案外広く石舞台古墳のようにしっかりと石組みの墓陵であった。誰が祀られていたのか不明だが2年前の再調査で階段状のピラミッド式の墓陵とわかり飛鳥時代の天皇に近い高貴な人のものだと話題になっ...
