Yoshizaki Gobo Ruins in Awara, Fukui is recognized as a national historic site. While the original Buddhist temples have been destroyed hundreds of years ago, the current temples were established in 1747. Quiet, beautiful, and with lovely views nearby over the onsen town nearby.

真田戦記 吉崎御坊 福井県あわら市吉崎２丁目 東西約150m、南北約130m、面積約2haの台地で、北陸に浄土真宗を広めた蓮如上人ゆかりの史跡が見られる場所です。ほとんど城に見えてしまう櫓もありました。本願寺第八代門主蓮如は、比叡山延暦寺との敵対関係を逃れて、1471) 年この地に御坊を かまえ、真宗教団の再興に大きく貢献しました。布教の手段として御文（御文章）と講をもって信心と布施を定着化し、本願寺の財政再建と門徒拡大をなしましたが、他派寺院の嫉妬を招き、側近の裏切りや朝倉家の弾圧にいたたまれず、蓮如は1475年8月、ひそかに海路吉崎を脱出しました。時に蓮如61 才、わずか4年2ヶ月の滞在でしたが、吉崎は真宗教団再興の地として歴史的意義が大きいといえます。蓮如撤退後は一向一揆の拠点となりましたが、朝倉氏の攻撃を受けて廃坊となりました。以後、坊舎のあった吉崎山は復興されませんが、江戸期には麓に西本願寺別院と東本願寺別院が建立されました。三方を北潟湖に囲まれた天然の要害であり、実際に一向一揆の際に拠点として使用されたため、防御拠点として機能していたことは確かな様です。
