There is gorgeous little trail (literally only 200m) past some Buddhist shrines that takes you to a delightful waterfall. There is a lot of moss covered stones, huge trees and the beautiful, cold, clear water running.

When heading back to the road, turn right up the path and look at the Buddhist carvings. There are about 90 carvings and statues along a 1.5km trail that leads up to Shirahige Falls. They are gods to protect the travellers. The carvings with the beautiful moss, and the lush green forest make it quite a remarkable and magical walk.

Well worth the stop on the way down from the Shirahige Falls to...

If you walk from the Blue Pond to Shirahige Waterfall, this is roughly at the midway point. There is a side lane to park cars too. There are several stone statues along the path from the road to the waterfall. It is a lovely peaceful place. Besides us there was only 1 other man there taking photos of the waterfall. It is unspoilt by tourists unlike the Blue Pond and Shirahige Waterfall. Note that there are no toilets, trashcans or vending...

I drove to the water fall from blue pond. It's very easy to miss the spot. If you drive from blue pond to the fall, there's a bus stop on the opposite side direction where you can find the entrance. Well, the waterfall is not worth visiting. However, if you have time after blue pond. Just take half hour can...

Hands down the best waterfall in the blue lake area. It's even a better sightseeing spot than the blue lake itself or the white moustache (shirahige) waterfall in my opinion. The air and water is so clean and fresh, and the little trail with shrines is super atmospheric. Highly reccomended.
