We love this place, we went there late, so we missed the demonstration of paper making. The staffs are very nice tried their best to explain things in English. Which we are very grateful.

2025/5/31 越前和紙の存在は知ってましたが、一度しっかり見てみようということでやってきました。 こちらの文化会館は入館料300円ととてもリーズナブルですが、卯立の工芸館にも入れてとてもコスパが高いです。 特に卯立の工芸館はむっちゃ面白いので、300円以上の価値を感じると思います。 こちらの博物館では色々な越前和紙が置いてあって、それぞれの違いに驚きます。見て損はありません。 あと、水口奈津子さんが書かれたガリバン画の展示もされていました。 ガリバン画？．．．初耳です。ガリバンで絵を描く？．．．全然イメージ湧きませんでしたが、実物を見てガリバンでこんな絵が描けるんだって感心しました。ガリバンといえば小学校でプリント刷るのを手伝わされたなって記憶しかなく、黒一色のイメージでしたが、ガリバン画は複数の版を色違いで刷ってフルカラーにできる様です。絵の線がとても柔らかくて見ていて癒される見た目です。こんな世界があるとは思わなかったです。 ガリバン画、一見の価値ありです。 写真撮影禁止だったので自分の目でお確かめください。

Really nice and informative museum on the history of echizen washi and the making process. They have samples of many different kinds of washi for you to touch and feel the difference. There are QR codes for you to scan and you can read the explanations in different languages. Take a bus in front of takefu Station. The tourist centre will have information on the...

Not only at the museum, but in general at the town I learned a lot about washi. I thought I already knew everything about the basis of making Washi paper, but here I learned a lot I did not know I didnt know. It was great. I do wish more information...

amazing examples of the hand made paper products. many colours and styles to be seen. no photos allowed though which is sad. no touching either which is challenging given the beautiful textures...
