Matsunaga Footwear museum — Attraction in Fukuyama

履物と郷土玩具に特化した展示を行っているという、とてもユニークな博物館。地域の小ぢんまりとした資料館かと思いきや、展示物の数は非常に膨大で、じっくり鑑賞しながら周回すればゆうに2～3時間はかかる。基本的に展示がメインでより興味を引くような仕掛けは少ない。展示だけでは子供は退屈してしまうかもしれない。 履物にしても伝統玩具にしても、古今東西様々な地域から蒐集されている。このような類の資料館は、多くのところで時系列を辿りながらの展示であるが、ここではどちらかと言えば職業や用途、地域により分類されている。装飾品としての靴だけでなく、農業や狩り等の生活を豊かにするための足の装備品が多く展示され、さらに地域によってその特徴が異なり、とても興味深い。 郷土玩具は、主に近世から地域に根付いたものが多く揃っているが、その大半は人形や面等の、いわゆる子供の成長や家族の健康を祈願するための魔除けの側面が大きい。日本国内だけでなく海外の玩具もいくつかあり、国や地域の特徴が前面に出ていてこれも非常に興味深い。 他にも、プロスポーツ選手愛用のシューズも多数展示されている。日本だけでなく世界の、特に履物に特化した資料館というのも珍しいかもしれない。是非訪れてみてほしいスポットの一つである。

Very nice museum! Staff were helpful and friendly. There are a lot of interesting traditional shoes and toys on display. 松永の下駄にちなんで履き物と玩具を展示した資料館。庶民の生活に必要とされた履き物を対比するカタチで庶民の生活を彩った玩具を展示した面白い博物館でしたが、福山市の運営となりボランティア中心で運営されています。 2024年にリニューアルされ、地元の政治家宮澤喜一の功績を讃えるコーナーが設置された。

良かったところ ◇シンボルとなった足あと広場は岡本太郎画伯の力作。必見です。 ◇スポーツ選手の靴は非常面白いです。ジャイアント馬場さんの靴は驚きます。 ◇敷地内の職人屋敷は博物館建設に伴い立ち退きがおこなわれたが、最後まで立ち退きに反対していた人に創立者が敬意を表した結果、そのまま残っています。

気になったところ ◆宮澤喜一さんの功績は偉大ですが、庶民の生活をテーマにしている資料館に必要かどうかは賛否が分かれると思います。 ◆玩具は子ども向けと思われますが、落ち着いた照明に照らされた人形は幼児には刺激が強いかもしれません。 ◆福山市運営になって展示意図がズレた資料館...
