I was extremely disappointed with the LaLa Area for the Kygo Concert on March 1st.
First, the ticket process was a complete letdown. We purchased Gold (Floor) tickets under the impression that it would be general admission for a DJ concert. Instead, it was seated, and assigned at random—I assume based on purchase time—which resulted in our friend group being separated. (Note: It was impossible to even find a floor seating chart online, so I am posting a copy here for future reference). In fact, many in the Gold Section ended up with worse seats than those in the stands due to the layout.
Moreover, the floor seats were SO tightly packed that there was barely any room to move, jump, or dance, which completely ruined the experience.
To make matters worse, the venue was severely under-equipped with food and beverage options. With only four stands serving food, there were lines of 500 to 1,000 people during the 30-minute break between the opener and Kygo. Even after the show began, a queue of around 50 people could cause you to miss 30 to 45 minutes of the performance. And even if you waited in that line, there were technical issues with the beer and chuhai machines causing service delays.
On top of that, all of the vending machines had run out of water, so you couldn't even get quick hydration if you wanted. Net-Net: Drink before you come and/or sneak in beverages because if you rely on LaLa area to serve, you will be disappointed.
Lastly, the exit process was chaotic. Around 10,000 people were funneled through a single narrow exit point, creating a frustrating bottleneck. While the courteous behavior of the Japanese crowd helped ease tensions, it was still disappointing that the venue lacked multiple, efficient egress points.
In short, I would never consider attending another concert...
Read moreWe went to see DJ Kygo last night. We arrived at 7:20 PM, and the show started at 8 PM. We bought Gold tickets, but the spacing between the seats was ridiculous—no one could move or feel comfortable.
At 7:30 PM, there was a break after the opening DJ finished their set. The lines to buy drinks were extremely long, with only two kiosks available, and the vending machines ran out of water. Even 30 minutes after the show started, there was still a long queue. Then, one of the kiosks closed due to a lack of drinks.
After an hour into the show, I waited in line for 20 minutes just to buy water and a drink (the drinks machines had issues many times, making the service even slower, and all alcoholic drinks were sold out except for...
Read moreI was in Tokyo for a KYGO concert in March and didn’t really have any issues with the concert hall itself, as it seated at least 15,000 people comfortably, but the main reasons why this place gets just three stars is for three reasons: 1. The crowd entry and exit procedures are bizarre and perhaps dangerous (particularly in an emergency) 2. The lines for restrooms was very long and 3) For 15,000 people, the number of food choices was minimal, which also made waiting...
