I had a lovely time at the Shayokan. The staff were very kind, and they stored my baggage behind the counter for me. There is one room towards the back where photography is not allowed. A lot of information was translated into English via QR code audio tour. They even offered tea and coffee for a reasonable price. I hope to visit again someday...

Aomori is my hometown but it was my first visit. They had heaters but my feet felt frozen as I walked on tatami mats and stairs. It is certainly grand for someone’s home.
