北海道海鳥センターさんです。

建物に入ってすぐ左側には事務所があります。 そこに居るのは鳥類の専門家に匹敵する知識を有し、そして、おそらくは厳格なローカルGメンの方々なのでしょう。事務所の前を横切る際、ちょっと緊張しました。

「おい、お前。何をしに此処へ来た！」

「あ、あの、う、う、海鳥の……」

「その顔で海鳥だとぉ？」

「いえ。でも、中身は、顔ほど……悪くありません」

「それは本当だな？」

「はい。本当です」

「いや。やはり駄目だ。おい。こいつを連れて行け！」

とは、ならなくて良かった。ありがとうございます。

さて、こちらの施設には海鳥の知識が全くない私でも理解できる、人に優しい展示がたくさんあります。 館内を反時計回りに歩くと、北留萌エリアと離島エリアの海鳥に関する知識がするりと頭に入ってきます。

わかりやすいのは助かりますね。

海鳥に限らず、私にとって野生動物とは「愛でる」か「食べる」か「時に戦わなければならないか」と、そんな存在です。 もっと多方面に渡った配慮が必要なのかもしれません。この度は勉強になりました。

しかし、私は知識を入れるのは得意なのですが、残念ながら入れた知識が出て行くのも早いので、海鳥と地域に関する難しい講釈は他の投稿者様に任せて、ここからは枝葉末節、どうでもいい余談に入りたいと思います。

私は自宅から徒歩で５分ほどの場所に、社用車を停める駐車場を借りております。 途中の道程には比較的大きめの公園があるのですが、そこには通年、鳥がたくさんいます。私はその公園を朝夕に歩くのが大好きなのです。

あれは去年の秋頃でしたでしょうか。

スズメと友達になりたかった私は、公園を通った際にパンのミミを持った手を真っ直ぐに空へと掲げました。 無論、獲って食べようなんて、そんな気持ちは毛頭ありません。友達になりたかっただけです。

すると突然、足元のハトに怒られました。

仕方がないので、私は地面に向かって手を伸ばしました。

しかし、今度はベンチの背に留まったカラスに怒られました。

困って水平に手を伸ばしたところで、最後は散歩中の老紳士に怒られました。

「あんた。野鳥に餌を与えるんじゃない！」
