Fantastic walking path. Started at the campsite and walked to the view point. There is a little cafe there serving fried foods and ice cream. The bus stop is outside to take you back to the campsite if your are tired. It was around 5km. The path is well maintained and a very easy walk with amazing views.

Beautiful scenery, multiple benches and tables along the trail to stop. Parked at the information center and walked to Shirahama and back. Took about 1.5-2 hours going very slow and looking at the view!

適度なアップダウンがあり、健常者の散歩に最適。 ここのクロマツは100年以上前に植えられたもので自然植生ではない。自然植生ではないとはいえ、生態的には自然植生のアカマツとほとんど変わらないので、植えたまま放置すれば雑木林に遷移するはずのものであるが、景観維持のため雑木の多くは幼木のうちに刈り払われて遷移が止められた状態。そのため下草の種類が多くハマギク、ニッコウキスゲ、ニッコウキスゲによく似たヤブカンゾウ、ツリガネニンジン、ホタルブクロなどのほか、ハチノヘトウヒレンや、交雑種のトリカブトはじめ、他の地区ではなかなか見られない希少種も多い。 結果としては非常に快適な遊歩道として市民に愛されている。途中にある地獄穴（閉伊穴）の伝承とかパワースポットと謂われるコウモリ穴などを探るのも面白い。 ・・・良いことずくめのようではあるが、課題もある。肝心のクロマツがそろそろ老化が進んで来ているのだ。パイオニア樹種のマツは、コナラやミズナラ、ホオノキ、イタヤカエデなどの雑木に次第に林冠を譲って行くのが自然で、ここでもその幼木の用意は出来ているのだが、これらの幼木は前述のように、刈り払われ続けている。クロマツ林としていつまで維持し続けられるだろうか？ここ数年毎年のように数本のクロマツの倒木が発生し続けている。 今後、どのように管理していくのか、再検討するべき段階に来ているのではないだろうか？

Utsukushi umibe. This is what a japanese Poet called the shores at Yodo no Matsubara whe he walked along here. We stayed at the Camping side and explored the small bays and rough cliffs around there. It was amazing even on a cloudy day. Don't miss...
