Read moreWe recently visited Iwatake Resort with our family on April 8th, 2025, and purchased round-trip gondola tickets. Since we were traveling with an infant, we had a baby stroller with us.
Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience when boarding the gondola. Around 12 PM, the staff member on duty was quite rude and unhelpful. Despite clearly seeing that we had a baby in a stroller, he insisted we quickly get in without assistance. The gondola was moving fast, and when we asked him to slow it down for safe boarding, he ignored our request. Given that we paid full fare, this kind of treatment was unacceptable and unlike the usual warm hospitality we expect in Japan.
Additional Note: There is no proper restaurant near the base of the gondola station. If you're planning to spend time at the resort, it’s better to eat beforehand or pick up food around Hakuba Station before heading over.
Pros:
Beautiful mountain views from the Iwatake Café.
The Yo-Yo swing offers a fun and thrilling experience.
There’s a relaxing seating area with panoramic views of the mountains.
Overall: While the scenery and facilities are lovely, the poor customer service and lack of basic amenities for families left us disappointed. Hopefully, these issues will be addressed...
Read moreOnly came here for skiing on one day, but had a great time. I think Iwatake has a better distribution of opportunities for all skill-levels, compared to the resorts further north up the valley which tend to be more suited for beginners. There hadn't been any heavy snowfall in the recent days, but I found Iwatake extremely busy the day I was here. The line for the gondola at the base-station was quite long. Once up the gondola, it was fine staying on the upper slopes. Iwatake has a good park section that's easy to access. Alps everywhere have incredible views, but I have to give special mention to the view south down the valley from the slopes by the top-station at Iwatake. Note that if you get a one-day pass, you'll have to give a small deposit (I believe ¥1000). Returning your pass to the ticket-counter at the end of the day gets you the deposit back, but make sure you account for the extra time if you're on a...
