紅葉台 — Attraction in Higashiagatsuma

5月下旬、新緑がいちばん瑞々しい平日に吾妻峡へ。車は十二沢パーキングに停め、八ッ場ダム方面へ徒歩で進みました。道は舗装ですが車は通行禁止。静かで安心して歩け、木々の合間から何度もコバルトブルーの吾妻川が顔を出します。歩くほどに視界がひらけ、気分もぐんぐん高揚。 ハイライトは紅葉台。ここは川幅がぐっと狭まり流れが急になって、青の深みと白い飛沫のリズムが生むダイナミックな景観が楽しめます。前日は雨で未舗装の遊歩道は控えましたが、舗装路だけでも充分に満足度高し。季節が変われば表情も変わりそうで、次は紅葉の時期に再訪したくなりました。

I visited Agatsuma Gorge on a weekday in late May, when the fresh greenery was at its peak. I parked at the Junizawa parking lot and walked toward the Yamba Dam. The road is paved but closed to vehicles, so it’s wonderfully quiet and safe for walking. Along the way, glimpses of the cobalt-blue Agatsuma River appear through the trees, each view lifting your spirits a little higher.

The highlight is at Momijidai (“Maple Viewpoint”), where the river narrows and the current becomes fast and powerful. The deep blue water combined with the white spray creates a striking, dynamic scene that is truly memorable. The day before it had rained, so I skipped the unpaved trails, but even just the paved route was more than enough to enjoy the scenery.
