This is one of the most beautiful parks I have ever been to, and it is one of the best locations to go see cherry blossoms
I visited Hirosaki towards the end of April, and got really lucky with the timing. Cherry blossoms were beautiful layed out on the trees, ground and they even created a mattress on top of water, creating a truly unique view
In the park you can visit a castle, botanical garden and at least during cherry blossoms season, many stalls with various kinds of faire food on offer
It is the perfect place for you to visit with your significant other or family, or if you are interested in photography, because great photos are pretty much guaranteed

Read moreVisited on 25th April 2025 when the sakura are in full bloom. Amazing park for sakura viewing. The 4+ hour trip (one way) from Tokyo was so worth it! Highly recommended! Tips: Visit the Taisho Roman Tea Room but make sure to register/book in advance as they can close early due to full bookings (easiest is to enter the park through the Fujita Memorial Garden entrance and drop by the cafe to make your booking before spending a few hours in the park). Also bring a windbreaker since it is surprisingly super windy! The Mt Iwaki viewing spots are also recommended. Finally, the coffee shop just next to the Civic Building is great to wait...
Read moreUnfortunately, when I visited last year, a very rude old gardener started chasing me waving his rake threatening shouting that dogs were not allowed. I was nowhere near the castle and I was walking in the park area and had seen no sign saying dogs were not allowed . Even when we beat a hasty retreat with the man still chasing us, I felt to see any signs. I totally understand in the castle area, but it's a huge park and I'm sure I saw other dogs.
