🚌 - Access: From Hitachi Station on the JR Joban Line, take the bus for approximately 10 minutes and get off at Kamine Park bus stop. Approximately 5 minutes' drive from the Hitachi-Chuo IC on the Joban Expressway.

🌹 - Hitachi Kamine Zoological Garden: Hitachi Kamine Park is at the base of Mt. Kurakake and overlooks the city of Hitachi and the Pacific Ocean. The 150,000 square meter park is famous as a cherry blossom viewing spot and also features two amusement parks and a zoo. The zoo at Hitachi Kamine Park is home to various animals and birds including elephants, monkeys, gorillas, bears, tigers, rhinoceroses, zebras, giraffes, penguins, donkeys, and sheep. ————————

A decent zoo with a good variety of animals. Kid and stroller friendly (but a good workout going up and down the slopes). It's close to the ocean so there's a constant breeze. During winter it can feel colder than the forecast suggests, so pack accordingly. There are 2 places to eat. One at the entrance (Elephant Cafe). They serve burgers and fries. The other is about halfway (Hippo Cafe). They serve curry rice, ramen, and hot chips. These are also where the toilets are located so I suggest making sure you go when you pass. There's lots of space for a picnic. I recommend bringing some food...

Pretty awesome place to pay a visit with family! Cool playground for kids. The toilet here is really clean and family friendly, and there are lots of small animals here. However, it is really sad that the lion and tiger are not showing when we visit it. There is a 遊園地 nearby, and it is free for kids under 3 year’s old.
