Owari-Fuji Omiya Sengen Shrine — Attraction in Inuyama

A great albeit short hike punctuated with what seems like hundreds of stones engraved with poems.

There are two routes to the peak of the mountain. Straight up, which will have the most stones, or you can opt for the easier trail which partly follows a sealed road.

Whichever way you go it is quite interesting and will lead to the mountain top shrine. The views aren’t too bad but being heavily forested there are only a couple of directors to look.

尾張富士大宮浅間神社は愛知県犬山市の古刹。創建は729年(天平元年)。当初は山頂に鎮座したが、祭祀・参詣に不便でありことから山麓に遷座。当時神社内に大日霊社が祀られていたが、天正年間(1573年～1591)に合祀された。織田信長は社殿を造営寄進し、犬山城主の小笠原和泉守吉次からは、山林や田畑の寄進を受けた。徳川、成瀬の両家からも種々の神宝の奉納があり、毎年国家安泰の祈願がなされた。東に入鹿池、西に濃尾平野を見下ろす尾張の富士山に鎮座する大宮浅間神社。御祭神は、木花開耶姫命(このはなさくやひめのみこと)で、子供の守護神であることから「預け子発祥の神社」と呼ばれています。5月5日に「預け子祭」が行われ、人々は虫封じや学業向上、そして安産、子授けなどを願います。

また、背くらべ伝説による「石上げ祭」は、毎年8月の第一日曜日に行われる祭りで、尾張三大奇祭のひとつである。 昔、ある信者が尾張富士へ登り、参籠祈願を行った。その夜、夢枕に木花開耶姫命があらわれ、尾張富士と隣りの本宮山を比べると尾張富士がやや低いことを嘆いたという。そこで、この信者は木曽川の大石を尾張富士の山頂に積み上げると、信者の願いがかなったという。このことを聞いた五郎丸村(現犬山市)の村民が尾張富士に大石を奉納し、富貴長命、子孫繁栄、五穀豊穣を祈願したという。これが周辺の村にも伝わり、盛大に行われるようになったという。...
