Today we went to visit the Izumo Lighthouse, which is the highest in East Asia. The place is heavenly!!! The lighthouse is on top of a cliff by the sea, which honestly makes the experience even more amazing.😍
We have the option to go up to the lighthouse, for which we only pay ¥300 per person. The stairs are very steep lol and a little tiring, in all there are 163 steps to reach the top 🥵. But the view from up there is too beautiful, so it's worth the effort. The observation deck is 360 degrees and is almost 40 meters above the ground with a view of the entire coast, the Izumo region (it's breathtaking).
But I don't advise those who are afraid of heights to go up, because the space up there is very small and windy, not to mention that due to the height you can feel very uncomfortable or feel sick.
Aaaaaa, and for those who love taking pictures like me, this place is perfect and yields many beautiful clicks, so if you only have one opportunity to go, it might be worth it to take an extra look and take the opportunity to make several clicks 😚.
In addition to the lighthouse, there are also some very beautiful paths that lead to other points where we can admire the sea. So it's good to go with a very comfortable clothes to be able to enjoy very comfortable. There are also some restaurants and stalls where you can try some typical dishes. As we went later, unfortunately I couldn't taste it before leaving (I hope to get it next time). Parking is free and we found parking easy, even on a Saturday.
I loved meeting and will definitely come back more often.
I highlighted the place on my Instagram profile @manuanceschi, in case you want to see...
The Hinomisaki Lighthouse is one of Shimane Prefecture’s most stunning scenic spots and boasts the title of the tallest stone lighthouse in Japan. Its majestic presence overlooking the sea is truly breathtaking, and together with the surrounding scenery, it makes for an incredibly photogenic location.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t climb the lighthouse during my visit, but simply strolling around the area was more than enough to enjoy its beauty.
On the day I visited, the winds were strong, and I could feel the raw power of the Sea of Japan. The sight of the waves crashing forcefully against the rocks was awe-inspiring, giving me a renewed appreciation for the grandeur of nature.
The contrast between the pure white tower of the lighthouse and the rugged, tumultuous sea was striking and offered a different kind of charm compared to the usual calm ocean view. On windy days, be mindful of flying hats or loose items, but the dramatic scenery is well worth it.
If you plan to climb the lighthouse, note that there are many stairs, so comfortable clothing and footwear are recommended. Also, check the operating hours and any potential closures in advance to avoid disappointment.
While driving is the most convenient way to reach the lighthouse, it’s also accessible by bus. However, the bus schedule is limited, so be sure to check the times and plan accordingly for a...
Read moreI added the lighthouse to my trip to the Hinomisaki Shrine. I am glad I did. It was a bit of a climb to get to the lighthouse, but all paved roads. It was well worth the climb. The views were spectacular and the breeze was a relief from the heat and humidity of the day.
The stairs inside the lighthouse are fine to go up. Going down I took off my socks to prevent slipping. You will have to remove your shoes at the ticket window and place them in a cubby.
Afterwards I wandered around the Daisen-Oki National Park and looked at the water, the rocks, and enjoyed the...
