Rinsenji — Attraction in Joetsu

Rinsen-ji Temple is a temple the burial grounds of which is the resting place of Uesugi Kenshin (Kagetora). The temple opens at 10 am. The entry fee is ¥500. The complex consists of the gates, the temple and a small museum (no pictures at the museum). The burial grounds are to the left of the temple. There's a plan of the tombs location showing that of Kagetora. To get there we took a shinkansen from Nagano to Joetsumyoko Station, transferred to Myoko-Haneuma line for a ride to Kasugayama station (¥280 one way). It's located near the Kasugayama Castle. There's a small museum located inside, apparently the warlord Uesugi Kenshin studied in this temple when he was a child. There was some calligraphic work by Kenshin or other scholars who came to worship him, the Confucian teachings seem to be very dominant. The staff was very friendly when I was visiting this place. ど早朝、最早夜中から車を走らせえっちらおっちら新潟へ！前日まで目的地も決めていなかったけどそういえば上杉ゆかりのお寺があるなと思い出し伺ってきました。 午前中でしたが駐車場にはぼちぼち車があって殆どは春日山に向かわれてる方でした。私は時間の都合上春日山に行けず残念😂 拝観料は500円かかりますがとても見応えあるし境内もかなり綺麗にされておりとても静かで癒される空間。 山門の天井絵も迫力があり興奮してしまいました。そもそも門が本当に立派で素晴らしい！ 広さはそこまでないのですが宝物殿もあり有名な謙信公の絵や書なども見れます。 小さい館内ながらじっくり見れるくらい興味深い物が沢山🤗 御朱印もこちらの宝物殿で頂けますので館内見てる間に書いて頂きました。その他授与品などもこちらにて販売しております。 そしてなんと言っても謙信公の菩提所とゆうことでお墓も拝ませて頂きました。 柵越しではありますが戦国の英雄と対峙させて頂いているとゆう感慨深い気持ちになると同時に、静かな良い場所なのできっと気持ちよく眠ってらっしゃるだろうなと感じました。 他の参拝者さんが居なかったので少しゆっくりめに手を合わさせて頂きお寺を後にしました。 戦国武将好きな方にもおすすめのスポットかと思います。私は行けなかったけど合わせて春日山城跡や春日山神社にも行かれるのをゴリ推しします！w 駐車場は割と広めにある...
