山形県米沢市の上杉神社より分霊され、謙信公を祭神に祀った神社です。明治34年（1901年）に、童話作家・小川未明の父である小川澄晴によって創建されました。日本近代郵便の父・前島密も援助したといわれています。直線的でがっしりとした神明造の社殿は見応えがあり、境内に隣接する春日山神社記念館には、謙信公の遺品・資料などが展示されています。 また、小川未明の「雲のごとく」の詩が刻まれた石碑や、童話をモチーフにした石像なども見ることができます。以前米沢の上杉神社には行ったので今回の新潟旅行では一番来たかった神社 山の下から上がって来ると春日山城跡の大きさに圧倒されます。下の駐車場に車を停め 神社の階段スゴ 家族に足の悪い同行者がいたのであきらめる？って聞くと見たかったって言うので駐車場探し 少し上まで行くとちゃんとありました。関係ならびにお身体の不自由な方 専用車道 通行できます。神社近くまで行けます。ただ停められる台数が少ないので駐車場まで車で行けるって思っても歩ける方は下の駐車場を利用なさった方がいいかも...
