鉄道風景写真を撮影したくてこの場所に来ました。 二上山麓を近鉄南大阪線の電車が横切ります。 この池は夕陽の二上山の水鏡が撮影出来る撮影ポイントでもあります。 鉄道風景写真の時は池を全部カットしますが・・・😄 太陽の向きから午前中から昼頃までが(１４時位まで)が順光みたいです。 (この時期はね) 暑くて汗だくでした。😅💦(笑) この時は雲が多く、光が当たるとこと当たらないとこがあり、イマイチでした。 (掲載する写真は、それぞれ違う日に撮影したものです。)

千股池から見える二上山の景色は素晴らしい。 特に夕焼けに染まる空と千股池、二上山の シルエットがいいです。 また、風が穏やかな時には水鏡となった千股池に 逆さ二上山が映ります。 春分の日、秋分の日前後数日間は 二上山の雄岳と雌岳の間に日が落ちる 通称鞍落ちを見る事が出来、 県内外から大勢のカメラマンが集まります。

ここから見える二上山の風景は 奈良県景観資産並びに 地元香芝市の地域ブランド『かしばプラス』にも 認定されています。

この池は二上山の日没鑑賞地として著名だが、日本書紀に見える壬申の乱においての大和における両軍合戦の内の激戦、大友皇子方壱伎史韓国と大海人皇子方大伴連吹負の葦池の戦いの場所であった「葦池」伝承地の一つでもある。尚「葦池」がどの池かは決定材料がない為複数の候補地がある。王寺町の聖徳太子ゆかりの片岡付近にあった池だという説が江戸時代の地誌「和州旧跡幽考」にあるが根拠が判然としない等決定打に欠く為、池の築造年代が明確に分かるようなデータが出ても確定できる...
