The Okunomiya Summit Shrine (奥宮 頂上社) is located at the summit of Mt. Ishizuchi, on Misen Peak, at an elevation of 1,982 meters, making it the highest point in western Japan. Staff are present at the shrine from May 1 to November 3. This sacred site marks the place where Ishizuchi Okami descended, and the path to the summit is known for its challenging “chain ascents” (鎖の行場). These include the Trial Chain, First Chain, Second Chain, and Third Chain, with a combined length of about 230 meters. Climbing these chains over the steep rocky terrain is a spiritual test, requiring participants to let go of worldly thoughts and experience a state of selflessness.
Within the Summit Shrine, three sacred statues representing different divine virtues are enshrined: one holding a jewel, one holding a mirror, and one holding a sword. Read more登山口の国民宿舎に前乗りして1泊しての参拝 あいにく雨が降っていたので鎖も岩盤もとても滑り、それと靴のサイズが大きい自分は鎖の輪っかにつま先しか入らないのでめちゃくちゃ怖かったです たいしたことないだろうと参拝を甘く見てしまい後悔しました… もちろん迂回路もあるのですが制覇したくて鎖を選んでしまいました…
でも何とか怪我なく参拝できてとても達成感がありました 雨の日は特に滑り止め付きの軍手でもしないとほんとに危ないです 鎖はほぼ直角なのでミスしたらそのまま垂直に転落するので助かる事は難しいと思います 腕っ節には自信はありますがほんとに怖かったです
