2024年7月訪問。思ったよりも結構整備されててきれいな古墳でした。駐車場は公園の横にあります。古墳の上から見る田主丸方面の景色がとても良いです。なるほどこんな所に古墳を作りたくなりますね。 田主丸大塚古墳は、6世紀後半に築造された前方後円墳です。国の史跡に指定されており、九州最大規模の前方後円墳として知られています。 墳形：前方後円墳 築造時期：6世紀後半 後円部直径：60m 前方部幅：約80m 全長：103m 田主丸大塚古墳は、現在、墳丘全体が芝生で覆われ、公園として整備されています。後円部墳丘には、石段が設けられており、頂上からは筑後平野を一望することができます。

復元修復される前の写真をアップした。大塚の名に恥じない全長１００ｍ超の前方後円墳である。復元される前は大型の円墳のように見えたが、我輩だけではなかったろうな。墳頂に登ると眼下１８０度見渡すことが出来、睨みを利かしたであろうまさに盟主の大塚である。 記事を見て少し。九州最大の前方後円墳と書かれてあるのだがそれは違う。宮崎県西都原古墳群にそれはあるから確認していただきたい。福岡県苅田町役場横にある石塚山古墳でも墳長...
