Place worth visit to know the culture of ancient Buddhist temples in Japan.

The nokogiriyama daibutsu looks very similar to the one located in Kamakura. Only the difference is Kamakura daibutsu is made of metal and shallow from inside. Nokogiriyama daibutsu is shaped out of single big rock. The construction is very much similar to the Indian ancient temple construction.

There are 7 small Buddha statues sculptured on the same rock which explains the different types of meditation postures.

Daibutsu is located on top of the Mount Nokogiriyama. There are two ways to reach Mount nokogiriyama. One way is reaching Mount nokogiriyama from Yokohama by ship+rope way. And the other way is by car taking the Umihotaru route constructed with in the sea. I have experienced both the journeys and the both are really interesting.

Prepare or carry you own food and water before reaching mountain. There are very few vending machines and no restaurants located on...

The Buddha is very impressive. It is definitely worth a visit. Depending what you would like to see and whether you want to challenge and walk up and down thousands of steps (literally), there are options. If you are only interested in seeing the giant Buddha and the temples, then my suggestion is to drive to the east entrance car where the Buddha is not too many steps away, then if you follow the path to the left, you can see the various temples too and with minimal steps.

This does mean you are not going to walk up and down all the steps and miss out on the statues dotted around the mountain, the view of hell from the top and the ropeway. The ropeway you can do separately by just going up and then down again without...

We went here from Tokyo on weekends and this is one of the coolest place to visit. It is around 85Km from mid Tokyo and is easily assessable via car. You can either do short hike or hike from the bottom. You can keep up with your health by doing some hiking seeing the majestic beauty of ocean view. From the top, it is see some natural beauty of Japan which itself is very famous for....
