Piece tag: Ota Shrine This shrine is an old shrine listed in the Engishiki Jinmeicho, and is also called the Onta shrine for one person. Although the date of enshrining is unknown, it is the oldest company in Kamo, and it seems that farmers have worshiped it as a god of longevity and good fortune even before the migration of the main group of Kamo prefecture. Ame-no-Uzume no Mikoto, the god of rituals, is a god who performed kagura in front of Amano-iwato, and many people worship in love of the gods and wish to improve their performing arts. Also, the swamp on the east side of the precincts is called Ota no Sawa, and the wild iris is beautiful. Sir Fujiwara no Shunzei's old song said, "Only his fluffy iris in Kamiyama and Daejeon's swamps flutters in color." It seems that it was. Even today, deep purple and bright purple flowers bloom beautifully all over the river around mid-May. This community of Japanese iris was designated as a national natural monument in 1945. The annual festivals are April 10th and November 10th. Kyoto City In the past, deer ate iris and the colony was in jeopardy, so it seems to be difficult to fence. Let's cooperate with...

Ota Shrine : Known from a Heian-era poem, the Ota Shrine irises bloom every May. The island in the centre of the pond is known as "the floating isle " 池の中央にある島は浮き島として知られてます These irises of Ota marsh are believed to make your deepest wishes to be seen in their color. They are also serving Broiled Mochi and Hot Green Tea from 10 : 00 to 15: 00 「やきもちと湯茶」の接待奉仕を行います。 It is recommended to go on a walking tour right after visiting Kamigamo Shrine. Ota Shrine is located east of Kamigamo Shrine. It only takes 10 minutes on foot. You will also enjoy the local atmosphere which is unique to this area along the way. It might be a great idea to stop by at Azekura to view its garden right before you come to Ota Shrine. The...

A small local shrine for Ame-no-Uzume. I went in late August - a time where festivities have just passed. The place to purchase charms was a mix between a house and an office. This was interesting. I will certainly visit this shrine again during events and...

a serene shrine really peaceful without the tourist crowd no Goshuin (maybe) There's a pond/garden but I was not lucky. No one there to instruct me how to enter that garden. This shrine has beautiful mapple tree, would be nice to visit in Autumn. There's no staff here.

Japanese historical standpoint. I go to see the gardens and trees. Kakitsubata (“rabbit ear”) かきつばた irises are growing here for multiple centuries. Fully bloomed irises May 3 in 2024, 2023 and 2022.
