Enryuji Temple — Attraction in Maizuru

西舞鶴駅より500m、徒歩で約10分の場所にある円隆寺。大通りから少し入っただけなのに、とても静かで荘厳な佇まいのお寺です。大きな門に迎えられ、中へと誘う広い階段。緑が豊かでゆったりとした時間が流れ、自然と呼吸が深くなりました。奈良時代、皇慶という僧侶により創建されたそうですが、一度火事に遭い、江戸時代に再建されています。一般公開はされていませんが、阿弥陀如来坐像をはじめとする6点の国指定の重要文化財があり、さらに円隆寺本堂も京都府指定有形文化財に指定されています。広い境内は自由拝観でき、心洗われるひと時を過ごせました。 階段が多いですが、本堂の近くに駐車場があるので階段を上らなくてもお参りできます。

Enryuji Temple is located 500m from Nishi-Maizuru Station, about a 10-minute walk. Although it is located just a little way off the main road, it is a very quiet and solemn temple. A large gate welcomes you, and a wide staircase leads you inside. The lush greenery and relaxing atmosphere naturally made me breathe more deeply. It was founded by a monk named Kokei in the Nara period (around 710-794 A.D.), but it was destroyed by fire and rebuilt in the Edo period (early 17th century to early 19th century). In the temple, there are six nationally designated important cultural properties, including a seated statue of Amida Nyorai, which are not open to the public. Also, the main hall of Enryuji Temple is designated as a tangible cultural property by Kyoto Prefecture. You can freely visit the large grounds, and I spent a refreshing time there. 「城下町倶楽部」設置 奈良時代に行基が開き、平安時代に皇慶上人が中興した古刹。 往時は、知恩院、成就院、理正院、吉祥院等、七十坊を擁する大規模なものであったが、一五九五年の山崩れで知恩院など四坊を残すのみで他は壊滅した。 本堂・総門・多宝塔・鐘楼・鎮守堂(いづれも府指定文化財)からなり本堂は、三体一具の本造阿弥陀(丹後で最大)・薬師寺釈迦如来坐像いづれも重要文化財で平安時代の定朝の作出である。 真言宗御室派。
