Fairfield by Marriott Kyoto Amanohashidate — Attraction in Miyazu

Spent a night here and loved it. Highly recommended if you are looking for a stay with great quality for an affordable fee. Visitors from abroad will find all the basic amenities with an extra touch of good design and elegance. Japanese guests will feel like visiting overseas, with the beds tall and massive pillows.

The room sliding doors are a fantastic idea, when open the room feels bigger with a great flow, when closed they give guests proper privacy while bathing, which reminds me, the room also has rain shower (another pleasant surprise).

It is located right in front of the city Mipple shopping mall, the mall has a supermarket, a small business and restaurant complex (the Japanese cuisine restaurant at the top has a great view of the sea by the way).

If you stay at the higher floors on the ocean view rooms you get a glimpse of the famous Amanohashidate, the top touristic spot of this area.

The hotel does not have a restaurant and does not need one, you will find everything you next right next to its vicinity, you may also bring your take aways inside and have them at the hotel charming back wood deck.

Overall this hotel surprised me for the attention on details that accumulate into a great stay.

Having the Marriot name attach to it made me trust the quality at reservation and it surpassed all expectations at my arrival, by far the best accommodation in this city at 2021.

Their company survey asked me if my stay here was “beautifully simple”. I laughed because it was exactly the opposite🤣 Marriott over-complicated everything they made the nice front desk staff do. It was “disgustingly complicated” for the front desk staff to get anything done. They were very polite but it took forever for them to do their jobs. Please simplify the processes they are required to do for each customer checking in or checking out🙏🏻. Extending our stay 1 more night was a hellish process too for both my partner and me on separate trips to the front desk. Then the key didn't even work. The next day at check out, it took more than 1 hour for them to produce a receipt for the total of our stay. (And we were the only customers at the front desk!) Oh, I forgot that even checking in, they sent me away forgetting to give me the keys because she was so flustered trying to remember every one of the hundreds of steps they require just to check in a guest. About the room, it was impressively comfortable. About the location, it was disappointing: 2km from AmanoHashiDate and not even a convenience store within walking distance. The hotel has no kitchen so only a fridge to grab a few instant snacks. The instant pizza was horrible and there is not a pizza restaurant or delivery within an hours drive as...

We came here for a night from Kyoto after exploring Amanohashidate. The hotel itself is actually a station away in Miyazu. The trains out to Amanohasidate were sparse so we took the first one in and actually left by highway bus.||We stayed at one more Fairfield during this Japan trip and the two Fairfields were almost identical. They were very consistent. Instead of convenient store though, there was a sushi boat restaurant next door that we went to for dinner at night and it was very good. There was also a supermarket across the street that we went to to pickup breakfast and snacks. Also a McDonald's that we did not eat at. During our one night, there were fireworks and we could sort of see them from our room. ||The room itself was new and spacious enough. You enter and there an area to hang bags and backpacks and put shoes. Also a small sink and mirror. The shower is there as well. This area can be closed off with sliding screens from the beds, couch, small table, minibar/frige. PJs and slippers were provided.||The lobby has a communal kitchen next to it. Also coin laundry. The communal kitchen includes microwave, ice machine, coffee, tea, miso soup. There is a dining table and couch area as well. It was raining so we used the umbrellas to go to dinner...
