In August of 2017, I came to Osorezan during Obon. I knew what Osorezan meant to Japanese people, and wanted to experience it for myself. The long, winding road leads up, then down the heavily forested mountain, before breaking through the tree cover to provide the first view of the temple complex. Nice story behind the place and beautiful construction of statues. It is near the lake that smells of sulphur all the time. Overall good place to go once if you are in Mutsu. Otherwise no need to...

Here is the edge of 此岸(shigan:our side) and across this bridge is 彼岸(higan:the other side). The acid level of the river is too high for us, so we shouldn’t touch but it looks so clean...
