Itokazu Castle Ruins — Attraction in Nanjo

One of the best castle ruins. You park in empty land near the ruins and walk down a short trail to the ruins. You will run into the wall of the castle and not until you start walking the length of the wall to the entrance do you realize how big the castle wall. When we visited it looks like they have not mowed the grass for a long time. They have put signs up to not walk on the walk anymore, but it looks like they are building stairs so you can see the view from the top of the castle wall. Beautiful spot. Unspoiled. There is no piped music, no Coca Cola machines, just the ruined castle and perhaps the best view in Okinawa. At the same time, there are no toilets, so go before you go! I love this place and often take my dog for a walk here. The castle walls are largely still intact after several centuries. There is much to explore.
