Tokyo Suburbs Camping | 5 No-Reservation Must-Visit Campsites

I went here with my husband for camping for two nights. We spent 4,200円 per night for 2 persons, 1 tent, and 1 tarp. They have a bbq area with outdoor seats if you don’t have a grill, washing area, and clean toilets(western and japanese style). After 10pm lights are off at the common bbq area so I guess they close at around 10pm. Fire woods are available at the site but I’d say it’s better to bring your own if you prefer longer burning wood. The parking is a bit of a walk from the campsite so they have rickshaws(Free of charge) you can use to transport baggages, its very easy to use by the way. We arrived there Friday afternoon so we were able to get a nice spot by the lake side. It’s a no reservation first come first serve campsite. You can also set up your tent anywhere within the site and bring your own kayak if you like to kayak(campsite doesn’t have kayak rentals). The only problem is it gets quite crowded during the weekend. So better to go as early a possible. Anyway, overall the experience was really nice, the lake view was amazing, and would definitely recommend if you like camping.

This camping is busy with large families group, easy access and large place to put down your tents, little far from parking but available to borrow carts from office. ¥2100/person, if early check in ( before 12:30pm) then add another ¥800 more. Quite high cost if for large group since so many camp site just charge around ¥2000 to ¥4000 each group of 4 or 5. Service is full of things for rent... Rest room available and many for both men or lady . Shower is another ¥700/ person after 5pm. So far this location is getting many people come during the summer. The lake view is beautiful in the afternoon and sunrise is the best . Good camping site if you intend to camp here

Campground located just on the lake. Stayed in both tent (1,100/person) and cabin. Rental tents and other equipment available. Very clean with complete facilities (shower/bath, large bathrooms, big bbq/table area.

IMO this is a very good, affordable way to fully enjoy what Nikko truly has to offer. You can set up here and spend the afternoon walking around the trails to see the different waterfalls, marshes, onsen, etc. then take the bus back to the campsite and enjoy a relaxing evening and check out the great view of all the stars.

Check-in possible from 1 PM. People come early to get spaces next to the water so my recommendation is to try to check-in during the morning when people are moving out. (Set up/reserve a space when someone leaves THEN pay and check-in after 1 PM)

Cabin which was spacious and had futons along with a couch, large dinner table, sink and gas stove.

Have stayed here 2 times...
