Great stadium!! We visited here to watch the Tigers play the Swallows in May 2019. The stadium is easily accessible if you come in by train at the Koshien station. There is a Starbucks, Yoshinoya, other places to eat as well as many merch vendors just outside the stadium. You are allowed to bring food & drinks into the stadium if you wanted to. We got out tickets online so we had to print out a QR code to exchange for the actual tickets to get in. The process was so easy as there are numerous staff & security outside the stadium who are able to guide you. The stadium itself was very clean and pretty lively. The restaurants and shops are easily accessible on every level. I got a kick out of the cute girls with beer keg backpacks walking up & down the stadium yelling that they had beer for sell! The only issue worth noting is how cramped the seats are. They are not one bit comfortable. My knees were hitting the seat in front of me & I'm only 5'7". The fans are great though as they are so involved throughout the game. They have speicfic cheers for each player and really get into it making rhythmic beats using small rubber bats. They really made for an enjoyable & exciting atmosphere. I would definitely recommend attending a game if you happen to be in Osaka during...
Read morePersonally it is the 3rd baseball stadium that I visited in Japan. I enjoyed a NPB game, Hanshin Tigers vs. Hiroshima Toyo Carp dated March 10-11, 2024.
As you know well, Hanshin Koshien Stadium is home of Hanshin Tigers. It is established in 1924 with 47,466 seats. Yes, this stadium is 100 years old as of this year, 2024.
Many people will agree that the enthusiasm of Hanshin fans is an iconic. Many people were wearing its replica uniform with his/her favorite player's numbers. It seems that they really love it. How can I say in English? I was happy to be here to enjoy the strong energy of them. It was a really special experience.
There are several food trucks around starting two hours before the game starts. Inside of the stadium you can get many foods as well. In front of each entrance gate, the staff will do security check, i.e., bag inspection, and QR code check.
At the previous two stadium in Japan, before the game starts, people stand up and sing their national anthem with respect; however, Hanshin Koshien Stadium didn't follow this procedure. I don't know why.
For your information, there are several goods shops outside the...
Read moreThis was one of the best sporting events I’ve ever been to. Whether you’re into baseball or just love a good crowd and atmosphere, a Hanshin Tigers game is a must.
The energy in the stadium is wild — nonstop chanting, singing, and support from both home and away fans. Everyone’s into it the whole game. You’ve got beer girls running around with mini kegs on their backs, noodle bowls, takoyaki, sushi, skewers — everything you could want for game snacks.
We got lucky with seats behind home plate, in the shade, but we met a couple who were out in the outfield and had to bail halfway because of the heat. So if it’s a day game, just a heads up that shade makes a massive difference.
The stadium’s super easy to get to — the train drops you right at the entrance, and there’s an official store right at the front (was way too packed when we went, line out the door). Still, there’s heaps of merch stands and fan gear inside the stadium and along the walk in.
Overall, such a fun day. If you like sports even a little bit, definitely make this part of...
