As an Australian my bar is very high for aquariums and animal enclousures. Whilst I completely understand that Uchiura is a small rural town and doesn't have all the resources of a big city it really is no excuse to give animals poor living conditions. The seal tank was tiny and their 'lodgings' really weren't much better. When I found where the otter was the little guy looked like he was going manic in the small tub of water he was allowed. It was prison like. The penguin enclosures were small, stinky and bland. Whilst this place definitely needs money to better it's situation and improve animal livelihood, I would highly encourage you to take you money elsewhere. I am a big fan of marine animals, but if I wasn't a fan of Love Live I would never consider going here. The ticket price would not have been worth it for me if I was unable to see locations featured in Love Live. The big Aquarium in Osaka is a much better deal for your money and mental health. I probaly only spent about 20 minutes looking at the animals because their conditions were so depressing. I did enjoy being able to purchase exclusive Love Live merch here, but...
Read moreIf you are really into animal welfare, you better not coming to this marine park, because the creatures seems suffer to live in small spaces and dirty aquarium (especially the seal's space😭). This marine park looks so gloomy and sad, might lack of maintenance and support. The sea lions live in smaller spaces, the female one will be the only performer for the mini show in the afternoon, male one only in the cage because the male sea lion is well-known as the wildest and massive one. The sea lion show might look cute but still look bizzare if you are really care it surrounding🥺 The penguins are under the sun and minimum ice in the space😪 There is a small building for fishes aquarium and other building full of frogs and salamanders. I hope those animals get good treatment and good food... At least, being free or get bigger space. I dont know how much ticket the visitors have to pay if they are not hotel guests (because it's free for me and...
Read moreEnjoyable place to visit in the Numazu area of Shizuoka. You get a boat over to the island from the mainland. Unfortunately, in recent years they have closed off a lot of the pens, but you used to be able to get up real close and personal with all the animals, nowadays its just the dolphins and sometimes some others too. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is a play area for kids. You can walk the circumference of the island even with small children. The hotel on the island has had the Emperor and Empress stay there in the past. Spectacular...
