This place is perfect for snorkeling and families with small kids! The flatts go out a really long way and when the tide goes out there are dozens of excellent tide pools where you can see all kinds of fish, plants, cucumbers etc. It's like going to a giant interactive aquarium with your kids with no line and no time limit. It's really safe and even when the tide comes in its not very deep. There's a shelf at the end of the flats though and once you walk out there you can dive off the edge and see AMAZING things. It was like going into another world. The fish were huge and unafraid of you, currents weren't bad so you can stay out for a while without worry. The beach we usually went to is actually around the corner. We'd park just off the street at 26°26'22.1"N 127°46'03.8"E and walk down the boat ramp which made it a lot easier for carrying food and kids. Not many people go here either and those that do are really nice. One last thing, during the end of summer in the evening we saw a bunch of glowing (I'm assuming) algae washing up around the beach and floating through the water. Only time I've ever seen that! We'd usually bring offerings for the shrines around there too, it seemed like common practice since there was usually a few things when we got there already. Best of luck...

The beach is great for snorkeling and seeing all kind of fish which are plentiful. Not the best for swimming though.
Be prepared to arrive early to get a parking spot as it is very limited. If you come late, after 9-10am you will likely be sitting in your car in queue until someone leaves the lot.
When we were there, some folks decided to park on the side of the road and areas that looked park-able but the police ended up showing up pretty quickly to the scene (don't know what fines they...
Read moreVery beautiful. It's gotten a lot busier over the past 10 years, but it's still not as crowded as the adjacent Meada Flats. There is a pretty cool cave and what looks to be WW2 Japanese machine gun nest built in to it. Very nice beach with an easy set of stairs to get down to it. Parking is the only bad thing. There isn't any really. You can park at the rip off parking lot at Maeda Point and walk down, or take a chance of getting towed and park along the side of the road. No real...
