I have stayed at over 50 onsen resorts in the past, and unfortunately, this was the most disappointing experience I've encountered across Japan, especially considering the subpar dinner included. The resort certainly impresses with its facilities (rooms and onsen) and the price tag suggests a premium offering. However, the service aspect, particularly in the restaurant (staff demeanor, food quality, and overall service) was severely lacking. Regrettably, I made the decision to extend my stay by one night before checking in, a decision I immediately regretted after my first dinner at their restaurant. Both the quality and quantity of the food were inadequate.Issues began at check-in. Although the hotel's website advertised that direct bookings allowed for a late checkout at noon, the check-in staff insisted on an 11 AM checkout. It was only after showing email proof that they reluctantly agreed to extend it to noon, which felt rather dishonest. The spa staff were overly aggressive with sales tactics right after photocopying my passport, pushing for a massage/spa package. Despite declining politely, I was repeatedly asked to reconsider for the following day. Such pushy sales tactics are unbecoming of a reputed onsen hotel. The first night's dinner was a disaster, with food quality comparable to that of a convenience store, including the dessert. I requested an upgraded dinner for the following night, which they agreed to, but at a significantly higher price than listed on their website. Although the food quality on the second night met the standards of an onsen hotel, the dishonesty continued. Despite paying for an upgraded menu that was supposed to include crab and a different main course, the crab was absent from the menu. It was only after I inquired that they admitted to forgetting to print it.Breakfast the next morning was also unremarkable. I made a specific request, in both English and Japanese, to have dessert served with tea so I could return to my room for another onsen session. Despite my clear instructions, the dessert and tea never arrived, and when I inquired, the staff claimed they were waiting for further instructions from me.Overall, this experience was not worth the high price tag. The restaurant staff were unprofessional, with poor communication among them, which meant my requests were not relayed properly. I cannot recommend this hotel based on...
Read moreFantastic Onsen hotel! I read the comments before I came to the hotel, even so many negative feedback, but I still choose this hotel because of the new built modern Japanese style really attracts me and my fiancé to go from Hong Kong. After staying, honestly I would say that this hotel is outstanding. The staffs are all very nice, attentive and helpful. Hotel is so beautiful! When I arrived and leave the hotel they helped us to take the heavy luggage. After check in, staff had showed us very detail about the room with very professional manner. The bed is super comfy and big, not too hard or soft. Just perfect for me. It’s new built, so the room is so new and clean. Also for both man & woman amenities are well provided. Hair dryer is Refa. Drinks in room all free(beer, juice, water, tea etc)The floor heating system also built in room. Dinner is wonderful too. Although not every dishes worth 5 stars, but the wagyu beef steak really juicy and tasty! Staffs in the restaurants also very attentive and try to explain every dishes as much as they can in English. Finally and most importantly, the onsen water is supreme! The onsen in room is big enough, I think it could probably fit for 4 people inside! Maybe one thing that the hotel needs to pay attention with is the water temperature in room is not too stable sometimes. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel. I can’t wait to go this beautiful hotel again if I have chance to go Tokachi! Thanks for the wonderful...
Read moreWe had an absolutely perfect stay for our wedding anniversary here. I wanted to do something special for my wife and this was the perfect choice.
From even before we stepped out the car the staff were making us feel welcome. It is authentically Japanese, we were welcomed and escorted to our beautiful room by a very kind and polite staff member in traditional clothes. Walking through the hotel is an experience in itself. The concept is peace and tranquility and they do it really well.
The room was immaculate and had two onsen baths one inside and one outside with a very private garden area so you can enjoy without the worry of being naked outside.
I had mentioned in my booking that it was our anniversary and requested a simple message in our room. But they went over an above with a beautiful set up in the room, a message at our table for dinner and then to top it off a beautiful dessert plate.
I wish I had more time and space to write about the meals, but it is half board and both dinner and breakfast were better than we could have expected. The effort that had gone into each dish was incredible. As far as we could tell, the ingredients are sourced locally and the themes were seasonal. The food was definitely the highlight...
