大阪府堺市のシンボル、大仙公園内にある日本庭園に行ってきました。ここは堺市制100周年を記念して平成元年（1989年）に造られた庭園で、足立美術館の庭園なども手掛けた近代日本庭園の代表的な作庭家、中根金作氏が設計した築山林泉回遊式庭園です。

面積は約26,000㎡とそこそこ広いですが、入場料が大人200円、小・中学生は100円というリーズナブルな価格で楽しめるのは非常にありがたいです。手入れが非常に行き届いており、いつ訪れても美しい景観が保たれていることに、地元の方々の努力を感じます。

この庭園の最大の特徴は、中世に海外貿易の拠点として栄えた堺の歴史と文化を象徴的に表現している点です。庭園の池泉（ちせん）は大海を意味しており、東側の堺市と西側の中国大陸に見立てられているそうです。池に架かる「映波橋（えいはきょう）」や「印月橋（いんげつきょう）」は、その二つの地を結ぶ架け橋をイメージしているとのことで、ただ美しいだけでなく、歴史的背景を知ると散策がより深くなります。園内には中国風の建物があるのも、友好都市である中国の連雲港市との国際交流を願う意味も込められているからなんですね。

庭園を一周する回遊式庭園なので、移り変わる景色をゆっくり楽しめます。奥にある築山の桃源台は泉北丘陵を模しており、そこを源流とする「石津渓（いしづけい）」が池に注ぎ込む様子は、石津川をモチーフにしているそうです。小さな滝の音や小川のせせらぎ、木々の葉が揺れる音が心地良く、視覚だけでなく聴覚でも癒されました。

特に良かったのが紅葉のシーズンです。私は紅葉の時期に訪れたのですが、今年は紅葉が遅れ気味だったため12月上旬が最盛期で、赤く色づいたカエデが庭園の風景と重なり、本当に絶景でした。ライトアップの時期も幻想的で素晴らしいそうですが、昼間の紅葉も格別で、京都や奈良まで行かなくても、ここで十分に堪能できると感じました。撮影スポットでは順番待ちができるほどの賑わいでしたが、普段は人が少なく、ゆっくり散策できる穴場的な場所だと思います。

庭園内には、景色を楽しみながら抹茶と和菓子をいただける休憩舎があります。この休憩舎は、中世堺の豪商たちが集まった納屋衆（会合衆）の集会所を想定して建てられた数寄屋風寝殿造りの建物で、池に面した茶店で鯉や鴨を見ながら優雅な時間を過ごすことができました。鯉のエサは100円でガチャガチャで購入でき、人懐っこい鴨も集まってくるので、鯉や鴨との触れ合いも楽しめます。

また、傘亭（かさてい）という東屋からは、遠景に世界遺産である仁徳天皇陵古墳や履中天皇陵古墳を望むことができる景観が圧巻でした。手入れが行き届いた庭園から、日本の歴史を象徴する雄大な古墳を同時に眺めることができるのは、なんとも贅沢な気分です。

全体的にこじんまりとしているという意見もありますが、その分ゆっくりと時間が流れ、心の底からリラックスできる、とても美意識を感...

駅からだいぶ離れています。 入場チケットと茶店のチケットは入り口すぐの屋外にある券売機で買えます。 その際、呼んでもないのに警備員さんみたいな人が横に付きっきりで話しかけてきて、めちゃくちゃ圧を感じました。 庭園自体は普通です。鯉と鴨がいました。 茶店は目の前にあるのですが、受付がないようで、困りました。 奇跡的にたまたま歩いていた店員さんがいて、話しかけて注文しました。 お茶セットは3種類から選択できるのですが、私と友人は暑いので、抹茶ラテにしました。 和菓子は抹茶餅みたいなやつです。 抹茶はなかなか濃かったですが、美味しかったです。 庭園内は中国人ばかりで、日本人はほとんどいませんでした。 一度来たら十分かなといったところなので、もう来ることはないと思います。

It's quite far from the station. You can buy admission tickets and tea shop tickets from the ticket machine located outside the entrance. When I went there, a security-like man stood next to me and started talking to me without me having to call him, which was very intimidating. The garden itself was average. There were carp and ducks. The tea shop was right in front of me, but there didn't seem to be a reception desk, which was a bit of a problem. Miraculously, we happened to see a waiter walking by, so we struck up a conversation and placed our order. You can choose from three types of tea sets, but since my friend and I were hot, we went for matcha lattes. The Japanese sweets were like matcha mochi. The matcha was quite strong, but delicious. There were only Chinese people in the garden, and very few Japanese people. I think one visit is enough, so I don't think...
