Awful aquarium, small dirty tanks, animal welfare not a priority.
I visited this aquarium today after visiting Oshima (which was great). This place literally made me cry. The tanks are way too small, most of them are filthy, and dont have plants, rocks, or anything to improve the environment.
They have a huge sunfish in a small tank, the water is not clear and there is nothing inside. Its like they decided to reuse an old swimming pool or something.
There was a big octopus in a tank almost the same size as itself, in the "touch tank" area, with no staff to supervise.
The largest tanks were overcrowded, and some fish looked sick. One giant ray looked terrible, and kept swimming to the top and free falling to crash on the ground.
I will certainly never come back here and i advise you not to come either. I dont know how anyone can visit this place and leave...
Read moreIf you wish to enjoy one day in one place watching various shows as well as enjoying different kinds of sea activities right there, you should come here. DO BRING A PAIR OF CHANGE CLOTHES for everyone ( free of charge changing rooms and showers are available). I have been there several times and must say I never get bored. The prices are severe even at the restaurant on the second floor. You can penguin walking show and get to know more about various species life facts as well as watch wonderful dolphins, whales and seals performance all in rotation ever 13-20 min with a 10 min interval for you to move from one attraction to the other. I always thought of this aquarium as a...
Read moreIt was heartbreaking to see. It’s one of those places where you feel sorry for the animals. The tanks are small, the whole place is old and it feels like they are trying to keep it running by selling overpriced tickets. It made me uncomfortable and sad, some fishes were showing obvious signs of stress, the emperor penguins never see real sunlight, the sea turtles are cramped and the tank with the big sunfish is way too small for that poor thing. Seriously, I wish there was a way to make them relocate the animals to better aquariums or...
