小さな美術館です。広さはあまりないですが建築がすばらしいし、居心地がよいので、クジラの博物館などの散策の暑さの中休憩がてらにはいりました。落ちつきます。

画家・石垣栄太郎氏が当地太地町出身であることから造られた記念館。ただ石垣栄太郎「美術館」では無く、各種活動をされてきた奥様の綾子夫人の展示もあり（そもそもここは綾子夫人が私費で建てて寄付した物）石垣氏の作品が多数見られると思って行くと若干拍子抜けする（もちろん作品展示はありますが）。また館内の展示も変化が少ないのか、氏を紹介する映像ビデオも「没後30年」と言うワードが出てくることから1978年頃制作されたもの。確かに綾子夫人が登場し紹介するものなので今となっては貴重な物だとは思うが古さは否めない。ただくじら浜公園の観光施設隣接と行きやすい場所ですし、見学も30分程度で見れる事から美術品が好きな人であれば...
