An enjoyable peaceful and shady park with wartime heritage connections; there's a small copy of the big peace statue down in Nagasaki; there are some trees which are surviving saplings/grafts/? from burnt out trees in the aftermath of the bombings; and there's an Anne Frank rose garden with erstwhile donated plants. And across the Sen river but in the same park, a fountain display and water feature.
Japan normally does civic displays very well, with working clocks, working water courses etc, but here the Anne Frank memorial garden only had two surviving rose bushes, and the water effects were all turned off, 3/2020 and 5/2020. Overall, this is disappointingly poor maintenance. Come on, Mitaka-shi, please don't neglect such a beautiful historical park asset! It is still worth a visit even in this somewhat dilapidated state.
