For being extremely accessible from Shinjuku it's hard to beat. It's more of a low key easy camping location, and it's next to a bridge which really makes it lose the star for not feeling like being in the woods or anything.
Highly recommend for absolute beginners, families, and people who like to fish as they have a very nice fishing pier there and offer rentals if you don't want to bring your own gear. On that note they also rent the whole package of tents and sleeping bags and grilling supplies if people are so inclined.
Warning: ground fires are not permitted outside of the actually cooking pit "gazebo." You'll need to either bring some type of small fire pit stand (it can be very small) or rent one. I wasn't aware of this and made my own by butchering a tin can of beans with pliers and using some aluminum foil then placing my contraption over rocks to raise it...

They have allowed spaces for you to set up your tent/grill/selves and and it's - typical of the Japanese experience - potentially a tight squeeze on a crowded holiday.
We didn't have time to check out Te bike rental areas or the parks and we aren't so into fishing but I'm sure if we choose to stay overnight we will enjoy all those things.
In short, if you're looking to have a tiny bit of the camping experience - without the hassle of traveling to the actual outdoors - this is not a...
Read moreWakasu Seaside Park was my go-to place during the pandemic. It felt like the quietest place in Tokyo, probably because it was.
I have cycled here hundreds of times, watched the boats, planes and fishermen go by. It’s a real treat as the sun goes down over the bay.
It has a camping area, really good cycle path where the kids and adults can rent bikes and a fishing area with tackle shop.
If you walk up to the car park, it’s worth checking to see if a car club is there. If you like cars you can sometime see some great cars here.
Unfortunately you can’t cycle over the bridge, maybe this will change after the other area is...
