This is a fantastic museum, although it's small but there are enough trains to spend some good time there. Actually it also has a great view of the main railway station with live trains coming in and out of the station. There is also a miniature show at designated timings (last is at 3pm) of the daily life of a train, which is fascinating especially for kids. The tickets is a unique gift in itself!

Such a fun museum for out of service locomotives! There's even an audio tour in English which really increased my enjoyment of the museum. The model railroad and gift shop were great, too. Oh, and the price of admission is only 310円! Highly recommend if you're in the surrounding area and love trains.

A small museum of train. Can spend for half or an hour. Good to go with kids who love train. The ticket is very lovely and interesting, unfortunately I lost it afterwards.......

They feature only internal combustion rail-cars. So you can enjoy very rare experience. And you must know you take 15 minutes to go to this museum from Tsuyama station.

以前から津山扇形機関庫を見たいと思っていましたが、実物を目にしてエキサイティングでした。扇形機関庫、転車台、近年引退したDD16から幻の機関車DE50まで、目の前にあるというだけで興奮の連続でした。ジオラマも丁寧に作られており、津山扇形機関庫を愛する方が作られたと感じました。津山駅待合室にも現役当時の機関区を再現したジオラマがありますが、こちらもNゲージを用いて精巧に再現されており、時折見かける「とりあえずジオラマを用意した」というものではありませんでした。 他の鉄道博物館も見学しておりますが、扇形機関庫そのものがほぼ現役当時のままあるというのは貴重なことだと感じます。動線を限定して機関庫内を歩けるようにする（天井の煤汚れは蒸気機関車が居た当時を思い起こさせます）、車両内部を見られるようにホームと同じアイレベルの台を設ける、機関庫を上から見られるような仕掛けをつくる（あゆみルーム、しくみルームの２階に上がれるだけでよいと思います）と、より機関庫の魅力を感じられるのではないでしょうか。欲を申せば、（困難でしょうが…）駅前のC11-80も仲間に加えてあげてほしい…と思いました。

津山駅から十分ほど歩くと、扇型の機関庫と転車台のある、この施設に来ることができます。 機関庫は古いものですが、鉄道館は新しくできたもののようで、関連施設は新しいです。 残念ながら機関庫の中には入れないのですが(模型ジオラマの部屋は除く)、集められたディーゼル機関車、ディーゼル列車、蒸気機関車を見ることができます。ただし基本的に前からのみです。 塗装も国鉄塗装が基本となっており、全体的に統一感があります。(朱色とクリーム色が主なので) 列車運行の仕組みなどの展覧施設が少し離れたところ(車庫から２、３０メートル離れたところの新しいプレハブ)にあり、こちらもタブレット機械の実物に触れたりしますのでぜひ訪れることをオススメします。 巨大な施設ではないですが、扇型車庫と転車台という貴重な施設を中心に、車両展示を主としてまとめられた鉄道館となっていて大変わかりやすいですし、コンセプトが明確なので津山観光の際は行程に是非入れてみることをオススメします。施設全体を楽しんだあと、売店に寄っても一時間程度で楽しめます。

Description

Tsuyama Railroad Educational Museum is a railway museum in Tsuyama, Okayama, Japan, operated by West Japan Railway Company since 2 April 2016. It is based around the former Tsuyama Depot roundhouse, which was used to house a number of preserved locomotives since 2007.
