We've tried out a lot of beaches here on the island in the last year. This one is by far one of the best for swimming and snorkeling and just relaxing on the beach. It's not overly crowded but has become very popular this summer. There's a lot of fish to see especially when they know you have food (they give you a hot dog usually so you can feed the fish). The fee is a bit pricey when you have a lot of people with you. For us 2 adults and one child was a total of ¥1300 plus ¥500 extra if you bring in your own tent/umbrella. It is worth it to us though as we enjoy this island and the beaches so much! You can pick sea glass and sea shells as well but I recommend coming early rather then later since others have that idea on their mind too. Definitely not as plentiful as other beaches for that but this beach is a long stretch enough to find at least a cup full of shells/glass. I believe they do serve some food as well (curry we tried). They have showers and rent out a few things. Expect a lot of people here on the weekends (parking was full almost around noon), and when weather is nice out it is best to enjoy this beach and the fish/snorkeling. Leaving the island to go back stateside and we will miss this island and this beach so much. I recommend checking this place out at least once if you come to visit or you're...

Rating this as a snorkeling beach. There are fish but nothing more than that granted we only swam in the borders of the swim area. Lots of seaweed and visibility was clear but not crystal clear given a typhoon was overhead.

The beach itself was nice. The sand was not fine but tiny stone variety. The beach was also not free with admission costing 500 for adults and middle school aged kids and 300 for elementary school kids. This price includes parking and shower facilities (no towels).

Life jackets were 500, a tent rental was 3000 and if you bring your own tent it will cost you 500. Food is available as taco rice, curry rice, coffee and flavored shaved ice all reasonably priced. Other gear was also available for rent including snorkels and inflatable donuts.

Bathrooms included a squat toilet which was old/dated but clean without smell. The showers were an old open room with five shower heads and serviceable for a rinse and change. No soap or shampoo.

It would have been nice for it to be free but it was well run and the staff were friendly. People need to make a living and I thought it was reasonable given how remote it was and their...

Odomari is a beautiful beach with clear water, but the commercial operation ruins it. They charge 500 yen per person just to get in the area and park. The beach is covered with 'for rent' beach umbrellas and tents, which incur extra charges (e.g. more than 2000 yen for a tent with a picnic bench). Other equipment, such as snorkling gear, floats, and life jackets, is available for fees. The water is very clear and we saw a bunch of fish, but many human bodies (alive) in the water. The admission includes 'free shower' and toilets, but the facility is so run down that it is a little scary to use. To be fair, the people who work there are friendly and try hard to help you. They have a lifeguard on duty and the designated swim area is protected from jellyfish by a floating net, so children can swim safely.

It is acknowledged that the private operation of the publicly owned beach for profit is controversial and I admit that maintaining the area and ensuring safety for young children costs money. While the drive to get there is nice, it is not worth it unless you want everything pre-arranged and are willing...

Love this beach! I’m torn about posting a review because that means more ppl will come, but it’s such a great place. You do have to pay for parking, but it covers access to the showers & beach. Food is separate. Generally we avoid pay beaches because there are too many rules, fees, or people. Unlike Ikei beach, they do not require you to rent a life jacket just to use your snorkel. If you rent a pop-up tent or umbrella, they will give you a fish sausage to feed the fish. The fish will swarm you because they are used to being fed. The swells are minimal so great for little swimmers. The reef isn’t super developed in this area, however if you swim a ways out, there’s quite a bit to see. There’s several anemone’s & clown fish. If a super robust reef is desired, this will probably be a disappointment (go to the seawall). However given that this beach is usually not overly packed and the staff is friendly, it makes up for its lack of robust reef & small shower facilities.

Not from Okinawa but we’ve visited a few times and we were shocked to have to pay for this beach, which was crowded and the “facilities” not very clean. It was 500 yen per person and we were unsure if we even wanted to stay but felt pressured to. The beach overall was lovely but small with coarse sand and was nothing special for Okinawa. Although, I enjoyed playing with and watching the hermit crabs. Also, we could not just lay anywhere along the beach. The “showers” (only 2 from what we saw) were full and didn’t look clean so we couldn’t even get the sand off our feet. The bathrooms looked gross, we just went elsewhere. If this were a free beach we’d give it 3.5 stars. Would not go back unless it was free or they properly cleaned the beach and “facilities”. I took some good pics though!
