Bandoko Garden — Attraction in Wakayama

There's an entrance fee ¥600 for adults and ¥500 for parking if you drive. It's a well manicured garden with scenic ocean views and elaborate cliff rocks cut by centuries of erosion. Super breezy here with benches to rest and have a snack too. It's not the easiest to get to, and although I enjoyed my visit, I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to come here, unless you've got some free time on hand in Wakayama. I believe this is a private garden. The location is kind of hard to get to without a car (took the bus + 20 min walk), but definitely worth it. Located right at the end of a cliff, the garden is a pine lover's paradise. So many beautifully manicured pines against the blue skies and cliffs. Cannot imagine the amount of work that goes into maintaining these pines in various shapes. Best time is early morning or sunset. Fees...

I visited in September 2019. I spent some days in Wakayama City and walked all the way to the garden. It definitely was the highlight of the trip.
