Read more4 years ago we were too late to see the snow monsters, so this time in mid February it was time to get revenge. The ski resois massive so planning is key to having a smooth time parking, trying out different ski lifts, and finishing on time.
Ski rental shops take credit cards, help you find the right size, and also have lockers to store your belongings. Prices for lockers range from 100-500 yen so make sure to bring a couple 500 yen coins and 100 yen coins.
Restaurants are also offered at the rental shops so you can relax and have a cup of coffee looking out from the 3rd floor.

Climb up the stairs to the viewing deck for good views of the snow monsters stretching down the mountain. 360 view. In winter, the snow reaches up to the Jizo statue's neck.
The station is a start point for the trek up to the shrine atop Kumanodake and view if the Okama crater. In winter, ensure that you are confident of the weather if you are planning to trek which can change quickly with white-outs and high winds (apparently the worst of all Japan's peaks). Proper gear necessary - people are lost up there every winter.
