Yokote Observation Park (or Yokote Castle) is a nice little piece of history about the local area and the ruling families that used to be here. Set up high above Yokote, you can get a spectacular view of the whole city. Although it is not a true castle nor stands where the previous castle was, they tried to replicate the old castle tower.

During the Kamakura festival in February, is when it truly shines though. As they set up Kamakura in front of the castle and it turns into a winter wonderland. It’s also one of the few times you can go up at night and see a...

It was a bit difficult to find the area but luckily had free parking. Theres a nice view of the lake and elderly people fishing with their friends. This area makes for a nice way to take a break from driving and walking around Akita city and not too many bugs if you...

There is a castle. We can see inside of castle for 100 yen and also more 3 facilities can be seen with that one ticket. Very cheap. We learned Japanese/Akita history. Perfect for...
