Fantastic collection of Nissan passenger vehicles (I don't think they got commercial vehicles) and passenger car-derived race cars, if I recall correctly. It starts with a presentation of short movie and introduction of the plant - the museum is located within the Nissan plant. After going thru a few iconic Nissan vehicles in the lobby of the museum, the tour starts once a huge warehouse where the collection resides. There are quite a lot of them, very impressed. I didn't count them but I'd say there are hundreds, I'm certain. The passenger cars were in great condition, the race cars must've actually campaigned in competitions, some had battle scars. IIRC guys were working on some vehicles at a corner. The only downside was, because they crammed in so many cars, it was difficult to get a good look at the cars right around, one can only get close to front, front 3/4 left and right. (Having said that, this is fairly typical in most car museums I've been to) All had signs posted for the model identification and the explanations. One could spend hours but I believe the tour is limited to 90 minutes (or one can spend up to 90 minutes in the museum). They appear to do Japanese language guided tour but no English tour so you are free to roam around as long as you exit the site within 90 minutes. It's free but needs a booking in advance, it can be done online or phone (for this option, probably need to be proficient in Japanese). I had a bit of a problem with online booking but it might have been my PC playing up. Don't take any notice of people complaining that it wasn't open when they just rocked up without a booking - it's no different than reserving a table at a restaurant. One looks at their opening hours, call (or do it online) to make a reservation. There was a staff whose English was quite proficient and was very helpful too. For Nissan enthusiasts, I definitely recommend here, just make sure to do the research and make a booking, don't be a loser and fly halfway around the world without making a reservation then complain. I 'd give 4.5 if I can as the cars are placed together a bit too tight but it's nitpicking, and happy to upgrade to 5 stars (and of course I'm partial to...
Read moreI really enjoyed my visit there. To see so many cars from the years of Datsun and Nissan was nice. Also learned the origin of Datsun and then Nissan. I think the ladies/guides there were so friendly and energetic!
If you love Nissans, I think you will enjoy this visit.
I love Skylines, and that is the one car that I can reasonably own, yet have not. So seeing the different years models was probably the highlight of the visit.
Going here is not that easy, but not difficult. You've got to register online. And when you go there, don't go to this location, but to the gate south of here.
Now... why 3 stars? The entire tour/museum is one video that looks like it was made in 1998 and it is a huge warehouse/garage of cars. My son likened it to going to Jay Leno's garage, and Jay Leno wasn't there. The cars are worth the trip. But I would have appreciated a more current movie. Maybe some interactive kiosks. I am not looking for a video game or a simulator. But maybe have a kiosk describing the creation of the Skyline. Show a video on Nissan Racing. I don't know. But going here, I enjoyed the display, but left...
Read moreWe’ve been planning to visit this place since December 2022 and had trouble making a reservation using their website. Since December 2022 I was trying to make reservations by checking their website every 2 weeks without any luck. Like many others we took a 2 hour trip on the train out there, thinking we could just walk in based on their opening hours listed on google and nothing else indicating that we couldn’t do that. When we got to the gate a nice gentleman had a sign ready which said they are closed to the public and can only let people with reservations inside. We then tried again to make a reservation but couldn’t. A lovely woman then came out and told us that they are fully booked until august 2023 because they are open 1 day a week! As tourists we rely on google to help us get around and plan our travels, the website needs updating and it needs to be clearly written that you can’t get in without a reservation. We are utterly...
