About Beauport
Beauport Bay is the very definition of a hidden gem, geographically close to the busy St. Brelade’s Bay but a world away in terms of atmosphere. It’s improbable that a visitor would stumble across Beauport unless they knew exactly where to look, so the majority of beachgoers here are local, and those in the know arrive early to bag a good spot on the sand. Reaching Beauport is an adventure in itself with a steep pathway and steps tumbling down the cliff face from the small car park above. The reward for these efforts clambering down (and later back up!) is one of the most picturesque wild bays in Jersey, if not the world. Surrounded on all sides by towering granite cliffs the south facing bay is a renowned sun-trap, and the turquoise water here is calm, perfect for swimming and a popular anchor spot for local and visiting boat owners. Local teens earn their bragging rights by jumping into the water from a number of dizzyingly high rocks around the bay, but an excellent knowledge of local tides and water depth is required to do this safely and it’s not recommended to follow suit! There is no public transport serving Beauport, but the nearest bus stop in St. Brelade’s Bay is around a 15-minute walk away. Due to the nature of the steep pathway and steps this beach is sadly not recommended for those with mobility difficulties, and there are no toilet or catering...
Read moreNatural beach with clear water and great sand including a dry part that doesn't seem to get flooded even at high tide. No shacks making noise or trying to sell you stuff (except for a very nice small shack before you go down the stairs to the beach). If you like a quiet and tranquil beach with no fuss then this is the right place for you. The protected location even reduces the wind chill factor. Definitely so far my favorite beach of the island. If you want to go there by car, make sure you take the right road (the "left" one offers no parking space) and take into account that you have to go down a path for approx. 6 minutes before you hit the nice and sandy part of the beach. If walking isn't your thing, look for...
Read moreIf you are fit and able and don't mind stones, this is a lovely beach. Crystal clear water and the sea does not go out far. There is a carpal on the headland and either many steps or an alternate sloping path down to the beach. The first part is stony with big stones but changes to golden sand by the sea. Be warned though there are no toilets nearby and if you forget something in you car, you have a lot of steps to go back to get it, so make sure you have all you need. There is now a snack truck in the car park usually on sunny days, but otherwise there are no...
