Booked a table here for the last night of our holiday, big mistake, our table was located near a large group of very noisy thirty something's all of whom seemed compelled to shout at each other! We ordered our starters (having been advised by our server that if we ordered our starters and mains at the same time both courses would arrive together!!), Because of the noise this was difficult. Food arrived which was good, oysters, garlic bread and crab fritters. Having completed our starters we asked if there was another table as the noise level was making it impossible to hold a conversation. Our server moved us to another table at the other end of the restaurant. It was marginally quieter. We decided to order our mains (with hindsight we should have bailed at point we needed to change table). The mains arrived I enjoyed my Indonesian seafood curry, my other half had ordered a medium rare steak, it arrived nearer bleu than medium rare, the other two members of the party had fish and chips which they declared to be ok. Due to the noise we ate quickly and requested the bill in and out in 55minutes. When I went to the till to pay our bill, I was asked if all was ok, I explained that the noise had made the whole experience unpleasant to which the response was,"yes it is like that alot, I don't like it either but I am partially deaf so I don't get to hear all of it"!! That said it allâšď¸ I would suggest visiting here on a quiet out of season day when there is very few people in, or visit another branch which hopefully will have...
Read moreThe crab shack sits next door to its âbigger brotherâ the oyster box, and offers a more family friendly relaxed dining experience. But do not be fooled in to thinking you should give this a miss because it does not boast such a high brow menu or wine list. The quality of the food is excellent and there is definitely something for everyone on offer. The crowning glory is the spider crab and if you have the patience you will not be disappointed. The crab was beautifully presented and incredibly yummy! If you donât want to work that hard, the crab poutine is a genius creation. Who doesnât like crab meat flaked over well seasoned french fries. Often non seafood lovers are let down by the other food choices at restaurants so dominated by fish, but not here. The steak was not a second class citizen, holding its own and really well cooked. Overall the quality of the food for the price was excellent- and with the mix and match small plates is definitely somewhere for a big group party or family gathering. The choice of puds was also fun, variations on the classic ice cream sundae gave it the authentic diner vibe, whilst also offering some hot classics including crepe suzette. A fun and relaxed atmosphere with a beachside location ensuring epic sea views from your table. Certainly...
Read moreI've been eating here since 2015 but I am so disappointed with my visit this year. I saw it had been redecorated and had lost its brilliant vibe and then saw that the crab taco that I always order which has appeared on numerous Instagram and Facebook posts due to the presentation and explosion of flavours has gone and the nearest thing was crab salad. Well basically a mountain of lettuce sprinkled with sweetcorn and some awful seeds like eating apple pips, very little crab and probably a quarter of an avocado mixed in, whole thing was so tasteless I even asked if they had chilli sauce and ended up having to drown it in lemon juice just to give it something it was so bland. The truffle chips that were once to die for are now served in the new way not in a little bucket and no longer crispy little pieces of truffly heaven but undercooked and tasteless. I left half of my salad as the lettuce overload was too much and half the chips so together with my glass of rose and sparkling water it set me back £31. Gone are my amazing visits to this restaurant where the waiters even remembered me each visit. Won't be eating there again. I miss the old crab shack.
Feel like I've...
