Read more【ヨルダンの世界遺産『ペトラ遺跡』ローマ円形劇場】 死海とアカバ湾の間にある渓谷にあるペトラ遺跡。1985年12月6日にユネスコの世界文化遺産に登録。ペトラ遺跡は紀元前1世紀~紀元後1世紀にかけて建設されたナバタイ人(古代アラブ民族)首都の遺跡です。
遺跡公園内には『エル・ハズネ』『エド・ディル』などの巨大岩窟墓をなど多くのナバタイ、ローマ遺跡を見る事が出来、アメリカ映画『インディージョーンズ最後の聖戦』の舞台になった場所で有名ですが、映画通り素晴らしい迫力と壮大な素晴らしさを感じる遺跡でした。
世界各地から数多くの観光客が来る場所で2007年には新・世界七不思議の一つに数えられています。
写真はローマ円形劇場 紀元前1世紀頃にアレタス4世により建設されたグレコ・ローマン様式の劇場。ナバタイの王マリクス2世による改築工事の後、106年以降のローマ支配下において客席が拡張され、約45段、最大8500人が収容可能になりました。
363年の大地震により大きな被害を被り、多くの箇所が破壊されたままとなっています。

The ruins of Petra is located in the valley between the Dead Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba. It was registered as the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site on December 6 in 1985.
The ruins of Petra is the ruins of the Nabatean (ancient Arabic tribe) capital that was built between the 1st century BC ~ the 1st century AD.
In the ruins park, we can see many Nabatean and Roman ruins, such as huge rock tombs such as "El Khazneh" and "Ed Dil" and it is famous for the setting of the American movie "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade".
It is the place where many tourists come from all over the world and in 2007 it was counted as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

A Greco-Roman style theatre built by King Letas IV around the 1st century BC. After renovation work by the Nabatean king Malikus II, the auditorium was expanded under Roman rule from 106 onwards, with about 45 tiers and a capacity of up to 8,500 people.
The big earthquake caused in 363 and damage and many parts of the site remain destroyed.
