Independence Park — Attraction in Shymkent

This urban park opened in October 2011 to commemorate Kazakhstan's 20th anniversary of independence. The park's central entrance is ornamented with an arch, and there is a singing fountain and several floral displays throughout the grounds. In the centre is a monument called Altyn Shanyraq, which represents the Kazakhstan people. It was made of 137 metal elements, each representing one of the 137 ethnicities who live in Kazakhstan. It's a good place to walk with family and friends. The view is really nice from the bridge of independence park though it's a bit too high if you're afraid of heights. It.s a great place to spend summer evenings. During daytime it's more likely to get quite hot because the trees are relatively young and are not very tall. However, there is a fountain which makes up for it. The choice is yours. Personally, i'd recommend the Central Park near...
