Depending on which entrance you come in, as well as your desired activity for the day, City Park has it all in close downtown Nairobi. My personal favorite is the monkey park portion of this park, which gives you the ample opportunity to feed and see monkeys. They are very friendly depending on which food you have. I recommend getting corn kernels. They are a lot calmer around it than bananas. I promise you won't forget this experience!

The park itself is okay. What I did not like was that the City County charges a high fee for use of the park by groups below 100 pax. A City County official walked up to us and informed us that we were required to pay KES 3,000 (US $30). We were less than 30 pax! I feel disappointed and let down by the City County government. If we charge for use of the park, even by a family, why call it a public park?

Interesting place - nice diverse flora - a lot to see and learn about plants. The "park" contains a cemetery, a memorial, a big vegetable market and plantations. It's not the typical kind of "city park", but a nice option to explore authentic Kenyan life for free. You also find nice spots to relax or have a picnic - just watch out for the monkeys that are all over ;)

The City park is a nice park. Only backdraw is that it is so full of these poor subsistence less people, who have nowhere to live. There is nothing wrong with them - and they have to be at least SOMEWHERE. The problem is that the society here is so cold hearted in general, that they do not care about them. So, it could be an idea to now make use of that these so called chocoraas are here (those with no income), and then see if there is something we could do? If you are a tourist, indeed come here, see the place, and indeed also prepare yourself with a BUNCH of 20-shilling coins simply to dish out, not in a bunch, but one by one, when you meet the beggars here. Then think - how could we make use of this resource of so many young people with no education? How could they be used? The visit here could spark a solution!!

The park itself is nice, though, not so well maintained in terms of a park. So, visit this city park...

Here’s an intriguing description for City Park:

Nestled in the heart of the city, City Park is a refreshing urban oasis where nature and community meet. Its sprawling lawns, shaded trees, and winding pathways offer a peaceful escape from the city’s hustle, inviting visitors to relax, exercise, or simply soak in the scenery.

City Park is alive with activity yet calm, catering to families enjoying picnics, friends meeting for a leisurely stroll, and individuals seeking a quiet moment of reflection. Playgrounds, open spaces, and scenic spots make it a perfect destination for both recreation and relaxation.

It’s more than just a park—it’s a vibrant slice of nature within the city, a place to recharge, connect, and experience the simple joys of...

It's such a shame that the place where we've placed our loved ones is not being taken care of at all... Grass is long. Graves are broken, no respect for the departed. No security when one decides to visit. One has to hunt for their beloved one's grave, because graves are unrecognizable. City of Nairobi create jobs for people, lots of jobs out there.. begin by cleaning up the cemetery's. I'm talking about the Catholic Cemetery's. I've recently been to a Muslim cemetery and was amazed at how clean and we'll looked after it is kept. I must say they respect the departed. Now it makes me think twice about where I'd like to be buried... Let me not get into this any further, just hurts me to think about the...
