Gulmarg: A Tapestry of Memories #Gulmarg #Kashmir #Travel Gulmarg isn't just a place; it's an experience. Nestled amidst the majestic peaks of Kashmir, it unfolded before me like a breathtaking tapestry woven with vibrant greens, snow-capped mountains, and heart-stopping scenery. Here's a glimpse into my unforgettable adventure: A Thrill Seeker's Paradise: I couldn't resist the call of the slopes! Gulmarg, with its well-maintained runs, proved to be the perfect playground for my skiing spirit. Whether it was the exhilarating rush of carving down a fresh powder run or the satisfaction of mastering a new technique, Gulmarg offered thrills at every turn. Beyond the Slopes: But Gulmarg wasn't just about adrenaline. The gondola ride, touted as the world's highest, was an experience in itself. Soaring above the meadows, I was captivated by the panoramic views that unfolded beneath me. The air grew crisp as I reached the top, and the snow-capped peaks seemed close enough to touch. A Nature Lover's Dream: A trek through the wildflower meadows was a sensory delight. The vibrant colors and intoxicating fragrance painted a picture of pure, unadulterated beauty. The serenity of the Gulmarg Wildlife Sanctuary offered a welcome respite, where I could spot the elusive Himalayan tahr and Kashmir stag amidst the lush greenery. A Foodie's Delight: Kashmiri cuisine added another dimension to my Gulmarg experience. From the warmth of a steaming plate of kahwa (local tea) to the explosion of flavors in a traditional wazwan feast, each meal was a journey for my taste buds. The hospitality of the locals made it all the more special. More Than Just a Destination: Gulmarg wasn't just a place I visited; it was a place I felt. The warmth of the people, the breathtaking scenery, and the thrill of adventure left an indelible mark on my soul. What about you? Have you ever been to Gulmarg? Gulmarg no doubt is very beautiful and a must visit place, but if you are not careful then you can get conned easily for anything between 5-10k. I was a victim of that, so I will help you not make the same mistakes I did. When you reach Gulmarg a lot of sledge wala will flock you saying they will take you to 6 points on sledge and that Gondala is very far (nearly 10km) and they will ask for 1.5k to 2k per head. Don’t listen to them, I repeat DONT. You don’t need the sledge neither do you need a guide nor is it worth visiting 6 points. Just straight away head to Gondala (through Road, there are taxis there which cost only 100 per head) take that go to Gondala , stand in queue (this will take approx 1hr) but it will be worth it , I am repeating again (they will say Skiing and other activities are fun down and will cost a lot more in phase 1 but it’s all a lie ) Phase 1 is heaven and the place where cars are parked is nothing compared to that. Reach phase 1, you will find lot of people offering skiing it costs around 1200-1500 per head with teacher. Bargain hard , really hard. Also take the afternoon or evening slots as Gondala closes by 5 and the rates for activities will be less by then Snowmobile is also a must activity, will cost 1.5k for 30 mins (say 1000 to them) . Just don’t get overwhelmed by seeing the view , phase 1 is so so so much beautiful than what you will see when you reach there. Don’t get fooled, no need for sledge, guide etc. Carry chocolates in advance will be helpful. Irrespective of whether you have a guide or not you will have to stand in queue , you can bribe some to get ahead but there is no need to take guide from “parking area”. Hope it helps, also I have been in Kashmir for last 10 days, seen and observed a lot of things (Pahalgam, Srinagar , Gulmarg, sonamarg) explored it all. Ping me on adii_anand on Instagram, trust me bro I will be able to save thousands of rupees of yours.

This is first level you can go via a Gondola in Gulmarg. This is the spot where most tourists, newbie skiers or snowboarders come. This is called Phase 1. There is another gondola which goes from here to the next level where most professional skiers go to practice, from all over the world as it is quite cheap. We had to book the gondola like 2 weeks before, as there is a huuuugeeeeeeee line, before riding the gondola, so your chances of getting a ticket right when you come is slim to none. It takes about 740rs for Phase 1. When we came, there were guides who just force you sooo much to take them, will try everything to take their services. When you escape them, there would be other people who let other people skip the line for a few bucks and the other people waiting in the line, look like fools. Then, when you actually reach the gondola after like 1 hour of waiting in line, then again you have to wait in queue, some guy made us skip the line by giving him 50rs. That made us really annoyed. These things just spoil a beautiful experience. Then, we took skiing with trainers for 2400, after a LOTTT of bargaining. But, the trainers did do a lot of work, as we didn’t really know how to ski. It was quite sunny and hot when the sun was up, it was nice. It was actually really, really beautiful. But the moment, the sun went down, it became freezing, wet cold. No amount of layers made us feel warm. Then, the way back to gondola was an even longer line. We had to wait like 2 hours in the line, so exhausting. Most of the time there was us waiting in line.

#jannat #mustvisit #worthmoney #snow #food #jainfood #costly This is a beautiful place, here you can really feel that you are in the lap of nature. This place is at very high altitude and it’s also having a second phase , where people having breathing problem should avoid it. 1.How to reach phase 1 or 2 One can reach here by purchasing ticket from the ticket counter on the main road of gondola. As there are two phase and for both tickets are mandatory. We have only bought ticket for 1st phase it was 740 ₹(rs). It’s costlier for normal people. Tickets are mandatory for age above 3 years. Buy your ticket and go in queue for gondola ride , the ride is of almost nine minutes , while ride you can see beautiful carving done by god , the pine trees, snow and many more. 2. Food @ 1st phase You can get many varieties of food at 1 phase, if you are going for 2nd phase then you should eat here, because some times you don’t get good on 2nd phase , as it’s on high altitude and there is low oxygen level over there. Many varieties are served here like Maggie, Roti - Sabji, Pulao, sandwiches, Burger, Corn, varieties of pakoda Etc. Must eat items are , Kashmiri dum aalu & Kashmiri pulao. 3. Activities Here there are too many activities done by Kashmiri peoples . Sledge . Ride on pony . Ski 4. Timing 10am to 7 pm Try to go in between 12 to 2 as there will be less rush. If you are pro in ski then must go in December and January.
